Since I'm not going to Spain this week, the door is open to visit [profile] woodsbunny in Oregon... I'm flying to Portland on Thursday morning, back on Saturday afternoon... but not via Seattle.

ah! not via seattle!
oh, well, that 'visiting at the airport' is probably not nearly so homey as it used to be.

I used to always try to get several hour layovers on connecting flights in cities where I knew someone... so they could come visit me at the airport if only for a short visit. Now I don't think they even let ANYONE without a ticket go to the gates. And so if you wanted to visit with someone.... you'd have to exit the gate area and then go through (torture!) security AGAIN.. right?

Have a really great time in Oregon. :)

Oh, had the available flights on Alaska been different, I would happily try a long layover. Most of my visits with Nancy are 3-6 hour layovers between Northwest flights, connecting through Minneapolis. I simply allow an hour "return" time to go back through security and to the gate... I'm already checked in, so it is faster. And I make best-use of my elite-level frequent flyer privileges (special security lines)...

Of course, there isn't much to do in most airport terminals, so we typically go elsewhere to visit ;-).
