Got up and went...
I like 1980s female rockers. So when I heard that the Go-Go's were doing a concert in Santa Rosa, I knew where I was headed this evening :-).
Originally Pat was going, too, but she opted out. So Julie joined me there instead and brought chicken to munch while waiting in the general-admission line. It was a blast -- except for the occasional sound-system hiccup or feedback. Being early in line got me in the 4th row, center... 30 feet from Belinda Carlisle! (swoon) And right in the middle of the dancing, two hours' worth. I'm still bouncing :-)
This was the first live music I'd heard in awhile (actually since
therealjae took me to see Captain Tractor over a year ago).
Headed northward in any case, I decided to take a half-day off and leave earlier in order to stop by
clairaide's workplace (I took a couple of photos and will post them later). A legitimate neighborhood bar... dark, bottles and glasses, polished counter, a (ordinary) mirror behind the bar (grin), even a swinging half-door entry. Immediately comfortable. And I got to hang out with Rose for an hour :-) while slowly sipping amber ale... she also had a knotted bookmark finished in NASA colors (blue, red slashes and little sparkly stars) which I'm going to take and flaunt at Cape Canaveral when I go for the launch later this week. (smile)
Sunny and warm, a beautiful spring day... what the heck, I thought, let's put the top down and cruise across the Golden Gate. Waving at walkers. Lots of fun until the car overheated and stalled on US 101 south of Petaluma. After 15 minutes I was able to drive another 15 miles before it stalled again. Iteratively, I made it to Santa Rosa. Then, searching for Julie, walked around the back of the Luther Burbank Center and nearly walked into Gina Schock and Jane Wiedlin talking to a reporter...

Sometime I'm going to take the kids to skate at *the* ice rink... the Charles Schultz rink in Santa Rosa. Almost a pilgrimage...
At least, after I get the car fixed... it stalls frequently now :-|
