Remote diagnosis
Oct. 6th, 2001 10:41 amThe Mars drilling automation report (really more of a proposal, at this stage) is progressing... the intro and mission requirements sections are written, and part of the systems architecture. I originally supposed that we'd propose an architecture similar to Remote Agent et al, but John Loch has nearly convinced me that JPL is more likely to accept a precompiled set of planning and diagnostic functions -- albeit ones that we have derived using machine-learning techniques and trainable soft-computing. Using lots of simulations beforehand. Of course, we do that routinely with human astronauts.
Distracting me otherwise... the ex-friend posted to the sfbay-poly list yesterday, nominally asking a question but the 1st half was an open attack, in public. (Without my name, at least) I'm very reluctant to start throwing mud back and forth on a public list (or newsgroup) so I'm going to leave the charges unanswered there (and hope that everyone else does likewise). Sigh... That person and I are both crazy... while yelling, crying and sending critical e-mails back and forth, it turns out that both of us have bought small presents for each other over the past 10 days. Typically schizophrenic for us. And ex-friend wondered why I needed to check in so often and look for reassurance... unlike my other relationships, I could never tell where it was, or was going.
Time to go get dressed, drop off the kids at babysitting, and go to a friend's wedding. Then off to Sarah's party tonight, probably without Pat (too many people in one day, she's sick, and babysitting is used up by the wedding).
