Extra keys
Oct. 18th, 2001 01:00 amAt the coffee following tonight's Palo Alto poly dinner, a discussion about gossip definitions arose... at one point, two of the participants said to a third, "Person A told us about how zie feels about you, and you should be really pleased. But we can't tell you what zie said."
Not gossip, per se, since there's no actual content being transmitted. Just sort-of-gossip about what the third person's feeling were likely to have been if the first two had been free to gossip about an actual event. Time to grab the extra key again and label... "meta-gossip."
Otherwise the get-together was fun, but critical of LJ "how could you feel comfortable posting personal details where the whole world can see them?" (all of the other known LJ users had departed before then) The monthly Palo Alto dinners used to attract 6-10 people back when they were at Ramona's, now it is closer to 40.
Time to head to JPL tomorrow...
