(no subject)

The guys flying up yesterday to Resolute from Ottawa were forced to return to Iqualuit because high winds made it unsafe for their 737 to land. I'm going up today in a little Beech 99 from Cambridge Bay... this should be interesting. I may end up overnighting in YCB if the weather hasn't improved.

Today's my actual birthday... I enjoyed the company of friends here in Edmonton over dinner last night, at an Italian place on Whyte. Fortuitously, I even overlapped with purplecthulhu's visit before he returns to the UK. I feel at home in this place... thanks to purplejavatroll,therealjae,handslive, boubabe, and mouseman for being there, last night and on past annual visits.

hippedity-hop...

Today's a multi-hop day... maybe as many as four flights, depending on whether I get a Twin Otter to Devon this evening vs. tomorrow. This morning I drove across the river into downtown Edmonton, looking for a map store that might have a GPS interface cable. Today began "Klondike Days", and I was caught in parade traffic. The map shop didn't have the cable, but a nearby computer store did. I drove -- fast -- down to the airport, afraid I'd miss my flight.
