Happy anniversary!

22 years ago, on a hazy, humid Florida July day... over the objections of the Roman Catholic priest presiding, who didn't like that I wasn't Catholic... about 100, mostly relatives, there... my parents and sister had been boycotting the ceremony because Pat kept her last name, but came anyway... we were trapped at the church after my best man left with my car keys, and therefore the reception luncheon was an hour late getting started... we had silly grins pasted on our faces all day... snuck back that night into the same pink stucco beachfront hotel where out-of-town relatives were staying.

patgreene is bright, quirky, full of ideas and information, sometimes sick, always cuddly, fiercely passionate about the things which motivate her, unsure of herself, introverted, and loves me. Life with her... as her father said, when I asked his permission... "it won't be boring." She has stayed with me through stresses and bad times, through sickness and health, triumphs and disasters, and is a large part of what I think of as "home". Happy anniversary, dear!

passing notes...

patgreene cleaned the house and made a great dinner last night, for the two of us... earlier fed the kids hot dogs. Salad with strawberries and candied pecans and grapes and mixed greens, raspberry vinagrette, baked, stuffed potatoes, bacon-wrapped grilled filet mignon, a 1997 Woodbridge cabernet that was smooth and balanced. And for dessert... her brownies, made with added chocolate chips and Torani peppermint syrup, with French vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce.

And our anniversary is today... a restaurant will be hard-pressed to match last night's repast.

Otherwise... I'm going to dive back for one more round of LJ comments on the giant "asking" thread, then call it quits there.

This weekend... mostly hanging out at home until another anniversary tomorrow night with tenacious_snail, then a low-key BBQ here and watching fireworks on Monday. While working at home on a paper due in a week...
