My task here is to locate at this meeting and talk with three specific individuals, to be visible generally as an Ames representative, and to get an idea of where the lunar prospecting community has gone in the past 2 years. But it is crowded... like a medium-sized technical conference. "Workshop" sessions with 70 people aren't for brainstorming, and have devolved into bitesized lectures. There are probably 250 people here, over half of them from companies who are angling to build hardware for lunar excavation and processing in future years.

I'm a bit stressed... got here late because of flights, registration was closed until after lunch, and the hotel can only give me a room for one night, I'll need to book something else tomorrow night. Sigh. And Hertz gave me an unwanted "upgrade", a large gas-sucking Hummer H3 as a rental. At least it has built-in satellite radio. Maybe I'll sleep in it Wednesday night. Flights were fine, upgraded last night, exit row this morning, and I napped on both to compensate for the short overnight in Minneapolis en route. It was still much preferable to taking a red-eye ;-).

Location is OK, across the street from Jacobs Field (but the Indians are out of town this week).
[update: two down, one to go, I've been visible, and now have more of a clue. Off to the cocktail reception to schmooze... already may get another WBS offered.]
