Back home...
Sep. 18th, 2006 02:39 amHad a great, snuggly, reconnective time this weekend with my long-term LDR partner Nancy in Minneapolis... it was hard to leave her there, and she's going in for knee surgery on Friday. But LDRs are kind of like that for me... reconnection, a sort of mini-NRE upswing, then poignancy at the end. And I was happy to see
patgreene waiting for me at SFO past security, smiling in red satin ;-).
Last night Dave and Nancy hosted a dinner party... apart from Dave being an amateur chef and quite good, it was a chance to meet his sweetie T. and her spouse and teenaged son. And play board games... today after a group brunch at an uptown cafe, I persuaded Nancy to take me to my other annual-ritual Minneapolis shopping stop (Land's End outlet store, where I won't even look at something unless it's >50% off).
Being the loving and supportive person that she is, she hemmed four pairs of pants (all for my son David, who is very hard to fit) before we retired to cuddle and nap. Given her painful knee, we weren't nearly as out and active as on past weekends there, but that was OK for me as I needed a low-key couple of days as a break. :)
