Not only does the Society of Petroleum Engineers want to send glowing letters of praise to my Center director regarding my talk in San Antonio last month, they want me to return for an encore in Houston next May in front of an audience of 1000 or so...

Notice of an important meeting this afternoon to "discuss some recent staff
re-assignments and how they affect conduct of area business"... meaning a reorganization is in progress. I've heard a couple of rumors, but was on TDY for most of the past two weeks, so we'll see...

Such a coincidence... not

At today's group leads meeting, we were instructed to advise our groups about a future event at Orion Park, a grassy area just outside our gate and near US 101. A "terrorist preparedness demonstration" complete with explosions, simulated casualties, paratroopers and helicopters overhead... and temporary freeway closures. We were asked to let staff know, so we wouldn't overreact to "temporary chaos" outside the fence.

Any guesses as to when this public spectacle is scheduled? November 7-8. Election Day. One wonders at the media coverage if major highways are blocked by helicopters and troops, outside of Moffett Field...
