cute, somber

Cute: baaby animal, in this case a juvenile possum, that had wandered into simplykimberly's feral cat trap, set outside my walkway last night. Small, with black, white-tipped ears. It couldn't growl, but bared its teeth when I let it out of the trap.

Somber: my MD this morning, when I went in to get immunizations... she had had a patient die, earlier this morning, and was visibly shaken... and asked me several times why I'd be willing to take my life in my hands by going to Hyderabad after the weekend bombings there.

recaptured kitten...

Chocolate's littermate, Penwiper, was recaptured this evening... she is indoors with him, albeit caged with food and water and litter. They are nosing... she hisses and growls at people, while he seems eager to show off his pets. He'll go up to one of us in front of her, let us scratch his ears or feed him, then he jumps down and goes to her.

She's only 3/4 his size... when she escaped in mid-July, she was the larger kitten.

My current theory is that we'll get her to the vet tomorrow, get her shots and flea treatment, feed her for a few days and see if she will socialize at all before deciding whether to offer her to a foster home vs. just releasing her again.
