Facing the end of a very busy, stressful week... I wish it were longer. Because coming up is the oft-dreaded down time, the weekend. No plans, as usual, other than Kevin's skating lesson. (fidget) Not helped by this seeming to be a peak social period for many of my friends.

I thought about asking [profile] patgreene out to see ROTK tonight... but she's still too weak. So I may actually go back to the office after the kids are to bed.

Then, there's the question of how to occupy myself for the next two weeks off... (shakes head). KId-wrangling, travel, and helping my mom will keep me busy some of the time. Otherwise... it's like a weekend, only larger...

The Rabbit Warren is having their overnight Solstice event tomorrow evening. I'm sure you'd be welcome along with the rest of the throngs. We're planning to be there toward the beginning, which is to say near 10pm. We don't plan to stay all night, though many will.

Also, Francesca will be performing at a COL community event up in Marin. Some sort of party thing. Check the website for details. I'm sure you'd be welcome up there, too, and you could check out COL at the same time.

I was really more in a "vent about dreading weekends and vacations, in general, with this as a particular example" state than indirectly asking "please find me something to do..." ;^). But thanks for the links!

Marin is IMO marginally too far to drive for an evening event from Mountain View, but I want to check out COL sometime. The Solstice event... much as it might be fun to see you guys and other friends, and it's kid-friendly, I wasn't on the invitation or mailing list and am reluctant to crash events. Much would also depend on David's status...

Well, FWIW, the Rabbit Warren list is pretty much of an open community list. Meaning, basically, anyone who wants to join and isn't actively banned by the community (which I would doubt in your case, you having had little connection with them yet) can be on the list and get those invitations (this is separate from the list for the OTHER party they host, BTW, which IS invite-only). I'm going to be over there this afternoon, and I'll ask if it's OK to send you an invite to get on the list.

Sounds like you guys had a fun evening...

As far as the Rabbits go, I twice (over the past 18 months) tried to get on their mailing list, and once on the LJ community. No response/turned down all three times. Two attempts to join the S&P LJ community were likewise ignored or rebuffed. I'm not going to beg... groups will knit themselves, and (as an outsider) I will likely grow less close to included/selected friends over time.

At this point, looking at portions of the local community, if it weren't for a couple of recent inclusive gestures -- [profile] bdot's tickets, [profile] housedreamland's help to the airport -- I'd be ready to chuck most of the Bay Area poly community...

During your two weeks (!) of vacation... remember that I love email,
and that I am often available on IM at random times of the day.

I will hope to hear from you............or two weeks of no contact will be pretty 'cold turkey'!!!!

:)

Hopefully so... although I expect that you'll be too busy to notice for a large part of that time ;-).

well, it's true I will be 'visiting' for the second week of your vacation. At that time (when I'm 'abroad') I don't do the IM. but I DO check my hotmail account. In fact... I only use the hotmail account when I'm away from home. You still have that email address?

Are you bringing lots of books with you? when I visit family.. I try to bring along some portable projects I can work on ..... becuase I know that things will get slow and I'll get antsy. I also sometimes bring my collage printouts.. so I can sit and cut them out while relatives do the endless visiting that is a part of this sort of trip.

Do you have portable projects? Well, however you spend your vacation... I'm sure you'll include eating yummy food, hugging people you love, and lots of resting.. which will all be good for you.
:)

Well... hmmm. I'm not sure how well that will work, not lots of time here for email composition. But I'm sure I'll be in contact sometime.
