So much for openness...

Sorry about that. But you really know better after all of these years. We love you.

And this wasn't even about the political arguments here at home...

[identity profile] serenejournal.livejournal.com 2003-12-23 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Uh-oh. Whahappened?

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-12-23 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
I was guilty of TMI in one case, and being too open and vulnerable in a couple of others. My problems...

[identity profile] serenejournal.livejournal.com 2003-12-23 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Well, I'm the TMI queen, so forgive the look of skepticism, but I'm sorry you were bitten. *hugs* if you want them.

Thanks for the thoughts :)

Uh oh. Ping me off-journal?

Thanks :-).

Sometimes TMI saves you more pain and hurt down the road. Sometimes.

I pretty much adopt TMI as a policy. I think people appreciate the consistency, and it saves me keeping track of "who knows what?"

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-12-23 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I like it, actually, but I fear that I bore others by rambling on about personal details...

I have that fear, too, which is why I write so much personal stuff in LJ. People can simply skip my entries if they don't care enough to read them. I don't want to trap them with such ramblings in real life...

[identity profile] p3aches.livejournal.com 2003-12-25 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I like your real life ramblings. They add flavor and charater to you.

I'm glad you think so, and I'm sure many people agree! And I'm sure many people disagree. This way everybody wins.

But thanks! =)

If the other party(ies) are ready to hear it, agreed... if not, then it just bores them.

[identity profile] who-is-she.livejournal.com 2003-12-23 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
uh......you were not guilty of TMI with me.
I'm feeling like our conversation last night ended weirdly.
I didn't understand what happened.
(we usually take about 20 minutes to actually END an IM session. but that one ended very abruptly!)

I will hope to hear from you again soon.

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-12-23 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
True, that ended weirdly... but not unexpectedly, there's an underlying dynamic that simply played out.

I don't know what this is about but I'm sorry that whatever it is has led you to want to be less open.

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-12-23 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I have to do some personal processing to figure out what (and who...) is safe, as far as filtering and boundary defense goes.

Openess

[identity profile] p3aches.livejournal.com 2003-12-23 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
Brian, Last timne I saw you, your openess was amazing. In fact it has helped me be more open. I like it when i feel your being open with me. And there is nothing you can say that is Tmi. Hugs T

and returned . How are things today?

[identity profile] raddy.livejournal.com 2003-12-23 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, i'm ignorant. What is TMI?

[identity profile] brian1789.livejournal.com 2003-12-23 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Too Much Information = TMI... often in the context of droning on and on after others have ceased to listen. Or furnishing details that generate a *squick* response in those reading.
