Local snow-day trip, anyone?

This week local schools here have "snow week", a week when schools are closed to facilitate family ski trips (seriously... trying to minimize student vacation absences the rest of the winter). I can't afford a ski vacation for five... and I'm away on travel Wed-Thur this week... but we're considering taking the kids on a one-day trip to the Sierra Nevada to go snow-tubing, after I had lots of fun doing so in Minnesota this week. We'd leave relatively early Friday, arrive around noon, spend the afternoon in the snow and then drive home after dinner. Is anyone else local interested? We could make it a group trip... we have a couple of seats open, if nothing else. I'm considering going to Soda Springs, which also has skiing and snowboarding as well as tubing tows.

Crud. Was thinking that Friday would be a fun day to drive to the snow... but it's the day of Claire's bday party. sigh.

Sledding! Yes!

(When again? Can it be after my life becomes more normal?)

It has to be this Friday, because the kids are out of school this week. Although that wouldn't preclude an adults-only trip later in the year, or going on a weekend (more crowded).

My husband and I are in the same place, kids out for the week. We were going to go tomorrow, but it is raining all week. Raining! So, that makes the conditions much less pleasant for a snow trip.

I hope you find better snow and have fun!

Thursday and Friday look like the best bets for part sun this week... (crossed fingers) As long as I don't need chains on I-80....
