Boredom. Dullness. I have no weekend plans, nothing social going on, as usual. And just sitting around at home chafes. Quiet suburbia. Bleh.

Time to go find a lawn mower or something.

The local rock group down the street
Is trying hard to learn their song
Serenade the weekend squire, who just came out to mow his lawn

Another pleasant valley sunday
Charcoal burning everywhere
Rows of houses that are all the same
And no one seems to care

Pleasant Valley Sunday

I couldn't resist, that was what I thought of when I read your post.

Sorry you don't have anything to do. I hate weekends like that when I have them. Of course when I don't have them, I complain...lots!

I will give you the same advice I am given in these situations. Pick up your phone and start calling people.

Most local friends are off at a given party... I wouldn't call them there, I've been on the receiving end of that before ;-). But that reminds me, I need to call my brother in Atlanta, today's his birthday!

Wow, I know nothing about a party tonight, aside from a small birthday gathering some local friends are throwing.

And I'd hopefully consider you a friend :).

That must be some exclusive party, since you aren't the only one to bitch about not going, yet all your friends are. (Though I shouldn't assume that it is merely one party, but in this area...) If it helps, not only was I not invited, but I heard nothing about it.

On the social side, hmm, not sure what to tell you. I guess you did the right thing in saying something on your journal, but it wasn't blunt enough if you were actually looking for company.

Hi all, I am bored, who wants to do something? Now that's blunt! I have tried that a time or two with mixed results, but often surprisingly satisfying ones.

Of course, if no one answers me when I do that, I usually feel worse than before, so I am not sure how useful that would be in your situation.

That is emotionally dangerous... I've done that a couple of times and gotten no response, and I felt even worse ;-). This time, it was mostly just a note... not a request for anyone's action. Although it would be nice to figure out something to do tomorrow night...

Tonight, I'm off shortly to get chewed-out by my primary, over dinner. Such fun...

Ewww, you have my sympathies. I hate having "talks" even when they are the best thing for a relationship's survival.

Although it would be nice to figure out something to do tomorrow night...

Okay, you might be different, but when I write a statement like that, I am baiting a hook. Therefore I am officially assuming on bait.

Care to get coffee or some other beverage tomorrow night?

Okay, sure -- where/what would you like? It's fun to be able to associate LJ friends with faces :).

have you considered taking up letter writing?
it is a social activity that can be done just about anywhere.
:)
also, get a good cellphone calling plan, and you can satisfy your
social urge that way. I used to walk around with the phone almost permanently attached to my head... ....well, in my younger days.
:)

now I have my fingers permanently attached to the keyboard.

I do write! Lots of email, even typing 5 wpm...

Calling... actually worries me, I'm afraid that I'll be interrupting whatever the other person is doing. Email they can read when it suits them...

*sighs*, nothing here either... I dream of quiet days, but when I get them, I just wish they would fill up.

I don't even dream of quiet days! Unless I'm actively ill.

Once in awhile... The quiet days sneak up on us amazingly enough.

It was stressful... but we're both still in one piece.
