climbing back up

Okay, I feel somewhat better than yesterday. Much thanks to those friends who reached out, with or without doughnuts ;). Things at home are settling down productively if still stressfully at times, and I set up a couples-counselling appointment for 3/22 once I'm back from Washington. And the whole family had fun at zahl's art-night tonight at Valencia Street Books in SF. All good.

Work-wise... I'm trying to catch up the air traffic project and write a paper on the Haughton impact crater's deep structures (as shown by gravity and magnetic surveys). And I volunteered in LB's first-grade class this morning. Talking to kids is a blast. :-D

Thursday and Friday I'm off to Washington, DC for a five-minute presentation at a two-hour meeting. Guarding Ames's political turf, and our budget, in reality. Then after a weekend at home, I go back to DC on Monday for more meetings (and to take vacation time to help geekchick and C. move), returning Sunday 3/21.

Talking to kids is indeed a blast. First graders are around 6 years old? My feeling is that things get harder once there is a whiff of puberty in the offing ... which is of course the age range that I'll be teaching :-)
