When I'm idly looking up the scripture citations on the bottoms of In-and-Out fast-food packaging...

Otherwise... in recent history, I had a languid lunch yesterday with [profile] mertuil, lots of slides for JL, and then drove over to San Leandro to pick up [personal profile] who_is_she for tapas in Menlo Park. [profile] patgreene joined us for hot-tubbing afterwards. This morning... city parade (Little League), then housework. I cleaned the refrigerator. Then... not much.

Wow, tapas and hot tubbing? That's a lot more exiting than my evening. :)

There's a new Spanish place in Mountain View on Castro St, I noticed it during the parade today. :)

But I haven't gotten out into nature, here...

sounds simply lovely. I had dinner with the parents tonight, put the kid to bed, and am feeling slightly lonely as everyone else went out to a birthday party instead..

How's the parental visit going?

Pat and I were supposed to do something tonight, but she's very tired and just wants to watch TV.

I'd offer to meet you somewhere for coffee, if it weren't an hour drive from here and already 10pm...

I know some people will disagree with me, but it bugs me that In'N'Out doesn't bother to post a sign on their walls, like, say, Ben & Jerry's, stating "We are a religious organization, after a fashion, and you're going to get scripture references on our packaging, you've been warned."

I guess it's the secularist in me, but honestly, if they want to do it, it's their business... I just feel they should make a note of it somewhere and "clear the air," rather than letting people find Revelations 6:20 on their fries and John 3:16 on their drinks. Being up front and saying "this is who we are and what we believe and where your money is going," like B&J's, makes a lot more sense than "stealthing" it in.

Eh... I do like their burgers, though.

I guess it doesn't bother me because the citations are pretty subtle: all they give is the citation, not what it actually says -- if people are curious they can look it up. I think if they came out and said "we're a Christian organization," that would make people shy away from them.

Possibly. Then again, I respect people and organizations who are willing to take that risk a lot more than I respect folks who try to sneak stuff in on me, even if I disagree with their message. I have been told that I am weird, in that way, however.

If one looks on the bottom of cups or sandwich wrappers, there are different citations in small letters... I keep expecting their Double-Double wrapper to reference something about the sin of gluttony ;-).

Heh. That's really bizarre. I had no idea.
