Indirect retail therapy...

Getting ready to scatter people and equipment around, over the next few months... I've bought a few new project toys. Three ThinkPad T42s and RedHat ES ([personal profile] hopeforyou wanted AS, but that was overkill for a single-CPU laptop...). Wireless base stations. IP phones. Memory cards and sticks... no more Jaz drives in the field! Portable 40GB ruggedized drives. Extra power adapters with DC and European converters. Utility software. Perhaps $10-12K worth, over the past couple of days. I'm tempted to go ahead and replace my 3+ year old Ti-book, as the screen keeps briefly flashing at random intervals... but I keep hoping that the long-awaited G5 Powerbook will be out soon. Mustn't forget more batteries...

*stands in line if you're handing out hardware, although she'd pass on the ThnkPad*

eh. Not my favorite, either... clunky, but the T42 isn't bad.

I think just after Xmas, at the next Macworld that Apple attends, is the best bet for the G5 laptop. Assuming IBM sorts out production problems soon.

But this is just speculation. I have no hard evidence!

I will be wanting one too though...
