bear sighting

I got up just now and went downstairs to the dining room for some juice. I heard the dogs chained down by the harbor shore barking... looked out, and saw that there is a polar bear down there, past the dogs... back to bed for now. 2am and light outside.

Good thing you thrive on excitement, eh? How far away is the polar bear, in yards?

It was near some garbage, about 300 yards from the window... a good reminder before heading out.

wow

I was woken up by barking dogs (not mine, fortunately), but I did not get up to look to see if there were a polar bear. Somehow, I think not. Besides, it is dark here at 3:30 am.

You got to see a polar bear? ::jealous::

That's so freaking cool! (yes, I know I sound like an 8 year old :) )

I've seen them a couple of times previously. Thankfully, always at a distance ;-).

For a brief moment, I forgot you weren't at home, and wondered what on earth a polar bear was doing loose in the Bay Area. Then the ceffeine took effect and I remembered. :)

(grin) escaped from the SF zoo, perhaps?

Big deal!

I've sighted quite a few bears in SF's Castro district. ;-)

Seriously, that's actually pretty neat.

Different local coloration... not 10' high and white-haired ;-)
