(no subject)

After some late-night conversation and ouzo.... I feel warmer. Virtually so, since it is beginning to snow outside the tent.

I overlapped with my sister Vicky, in Resolute. She's a firefighter and paramedic and is providing medical coverage in camp for part of the season. She can also carry a 200 lb person out of a burning building in full gear...

And here's base camp, just after arriving. There's construction going on... it's a mess. The website (http://www.marsonearth.com) shows more, albeit much tidier and sunnier.

Note all of the snowy patches... a lot more than I'm used to seeing here in mid-July. Looks more like July 8 than July 23...

Don't ask me why, but when I saw the picture of you with your sister, I thought "Klondike Bill". You sound like you're having a wonderful time! And thanks for the pictures, fills up my wanderlust for now.

Heh. Maybe "Nunavut Jay" or something? ;-)

Are you far enough north that if you stand under each of those clocks you're in that timezone? ;-)

LOL... no, the timezones are still a couple of hundred miles across at this latitude (75N).

Ouzo! It *must* be cold there. Isn't there anything else to drink? Say, something like fermented anti-freeze? Whew!

Well, have fun, stay warm, all that stuff....
