Today we enjoyed [personal profile] who_is_she and [profile] loitl's hospitality, staying here for a second night. We started by going down their 2.5 acres to a wooded stream to look around and pick blackberries. It reminded me of being 11 years old in Georgia... roaming forests and thickets, picking berries for my mom, playing with our dog (here, there's an Australian cattle dog named Kato). We saw the barn and the "shed" building where Matt has his workshop and Lisa her studio and exercise rooms.

Later, we drove downtown and played tourist...Pioneer Square area, then met [profile] k4bidyke for a late lunch at Pike's Market before ending up riding carnival rides adjacent to the Space Needle. Then back to Woodinville before Mexican food in Duvall and then blackberry cobbler back here... capped by a soak in the hot tub and a long talk with [personal profile] who_is_she.

Here's Matt by the creekside with Kato, pointing out berry locations to David and Kevin...

A backlit, crowned visage of our beautiful hostess:

Kato was well-behaved around our noisy kids... here, rolling in the dusty barn floor with James.

Pat, making her pilgrimage to the original store:

And Pat and the kids, headed to the rides near the Space Needle (on the 1962 World's Fair grounds).

thanks

for the travelogue and photos. I'm jealous of the cobbler-and-hot-tub.

My last trip to Seattle was the last week of the baseball season last year, where I saw the A's play the M's. We spent a lot of time in Pioneer Park, went to a neat greenhouse there, and got to meet [livejournal.com profile] jasperboi, [livejournal.com profile] princesspan and [livejournal.com profile] smithie while there. The narrated cruise thingy was also fun (though even at half price, I didn't think it was cheap). I've discovered that I like Seattle a lot more when it is not too close to winter solstice-- I need sunlight for proper functioning.
