Eh. Nightmares, up after only getting to bed at 2am. Something having to do with nearby volcanic eruptions, then serial killers who used razors. And Pat's congested and hence snoring loudly...
Work has gone slowly lately, mostly closing out details (reports, financial, travel vouchers) from recent field work, and planning based on recent results. I haven't been particularly focussed. OTOH, after two weeks spent focussed on
patgreene I feel like her friend and ally again, rather than a service-provider and roommate. Now we'll have to manage opening up to others again while trying to not fumble our own level of connection.
Wine and Song was fun on Friday, with the kids running around... I had wavered slightly about going, but James was set on it (hmm...) and had enlisted his siblings in lobbying. And I'm glad we went, despite sitting alone in the hot tub (grin). Pat's brownies were the only chocolate item, and disappeared in less than a half hour after we arrived.
Yesterday... helping James with a science project (ways to drop an uncooked egg from the roofline to the ground, without breaking it) and biweekly grocery shopping and general house cleaning. Pat and I went out for coffee after James returned from his waiting gig at the church fundraising dinner. Maybe that's it... too much late-night caffeine. I should try to go back to sleep, I have to be up in three hours to take James to church (rehearsal, he plays drums now in the 9am service)...

Date: 2004-10-24 12:12 pm (UTC)the dreaded "eggdrop problem".
heh.
when I was a TA in a beginning design course, this was one of our early projects for the students. Design a system that will allow an uncooked egg to be dropped from a height of X feet, and land on the ground without the egg breaking. (paraphrase).
The engineering students did it too, as I recall.
that was a really fun class to watch how the students handled the problems.
you should have been there the day the students tested their designs in the "Tomato Smash" project.
:)
