I don't think that counts so much as something to read between the lines as a big, flashing neon billboard. Do you think your particular job is likely to be in danger?

Unlikely, because I have external project funding set through the end of 2006, thus far (since I've *been* proposal writing all along, lacking the easy internal program funding of many of my colleagues over the past 5 years). Since I have support lined up, though, someone *could* try to muscle me out and grab it... I've seen it happen before.
