jayIt turns out that the insurance company was actually offering a good deal by totaling my car... full retail, probably $1200 more than I'd get if I sold it myself. Heck, only $200 less than what I paid for it nearly 6 years ago. So I decided to look for a newer convertible with less mileage in the same price range.
Tonight was deemed a six-month anniversary fortenacious_snail and I... we went to a reasonably authentic-style tapas place in Berkeley. It was good to look back as well as gaze at each other.
And with a helpful pointer from Les's roommate's brother (visiting them), I found an eBay bidding service (esnipe.com). Which meant that I could set up a successful last-minute bid on this car. Yay! I've bought a car, sight unseen, on eBay... (grin). Talk about acts of faith...
And note the wryly-amusing story of how the new paint job got marred... one can only wonder. ;)
