This is just so far removed from medical reality as to be astounding. From the dailykos article:
'Virginia is one of only 7 states, however, that mandate the reporting of loss of all "products of conception" regardless of gestational age. This includes both spontaneous losses of pregnancy and induced terminations of pregnancy, though the required data elements are different for abortions.'
The problem is that about 1/3 of pregnancies are spontaneously rejected in the first month and appear to just be heavy periods - at least this is my understanding, IANAMD and I do not play one on TV. So what is someone to do - tell the police every time you have a heavy period just in case?
