One of those days... yesterday I kept zigging when I should have zagged. Late getting Kevin to his skating lesson. Kids were unruly when trying to get a family portrait done (for our church's picture directory). And [profile] patgreene was sweet in sending me off on a date with [personal profile] tenacious_snail, but I just kept messing up (making Les crankier and crankier as the evening progressed). My choice of parking-search patterns... going with the louder, lower-end tapas place on Mission (I thought it felt more authentic)... then Writers With Drinks was a flop of sorts. I liked it, but Les actually bailed after awhile and waited outside the venue. By the time we went by Valencia Street Books and saw [profile] zahl and got coffee nearby, Les and I were each a bundle of nerves.

Indigestion... I was queasy by the time I drove home from Berkeley. But feel better this morning. Hopefully today will roll better... our annual skating party is late this afternoon. And thanks to [profile] zahl for the space toy for the kids ;).

Sorry Les didn't like Writers with Drinks. I've always enjoyed them when Charlie's held them on this coast. Yeah, the material isn't always exactly my cup of tea, but the overall experience always is.

I liked it, myself... it was a good variety of genres and authors.

's not much fun when everything conspires against you.

I was actually fine with the tapas place...though perhaps if I'd thought about the question of "how do I feel about loud, crowded bars" I would have limited that to one place (the Make Out Room) rather that two (Cha Cha Cha plus Make Out Room).

I fear that I made a bad impression on [livejournal.com profile] zahl, but once I'd had the lovely and just-slightly-brisk walk back to the minivan, I was back in a good frame of mind.

and am quite certain that the good bits of the date more than balanced the bad.

I'm hoping that your Sunday is more consistently good, and that both your mood and your tummy avoid that roller coaster feeling.

Maybe I was just in more a mood than you for loud, crowded bars? ;)

Perhaps.

One thing I realized tonight is that I am clearly more extroverted than everyone else that I have ever dated. I don't know that you're *more* extroverted than me, but you are an extrovert and may have tolerances for certain sorts of external stimuli (like crowds, bars and/or drunk people than I do).

Fear not! I have taken into account that you were supposedly way off kilter. Besides, it was wicked loud in that coffee shop. Shoulda whipped out the earplugs.

Bet I see you tonight!
