I was up at 4:30am this morning to drive patgreene to SFO for her travel to Baltimore. She's headed to alt.polycon 12 there, a Christmas present. She went with me to APC9 in Boston a couple of years ago, but this is her first time solo. Both in a "*-con" environment and at a large poly-oriented event. It was interesting to have the "if lightning strikes and you fall for someone, this is our protocol and safety rules" discussion *with her* as the one going off somewhere ;).

Back to mundanity here... stopped at Safeway at 5:50am to buy groceries (there was nothing for breakfast in the house), got the kids away to school, and now I'm home because it is Inauguration Day (sigh...) and NASA and other Federal offices are closed. Housework today, and maybe balance finances and do some woodworking. No social plans of any sort...

Maybe you can get her to come to my impromtu "mourn inaugaration day" celebration. Which will happen if anyone shows up! Random readers: 569 Valencia st (x17th) is the party. Actually, I found out at lunchtime that they weren't closed... (sheepish grin). So I'm taking a day of vacation instead. I feel worse for sarahh who gets no time off...
