Time to drag myself out and apply one more finishing coat of Zolatone to the cabinet trim pieces before we all go off to the 9am family service... was up until after 2am, after [profile] patgreene and I went out for tapas and wine last night. Finishing up at midnight with chocolate bread pudding at the Palo Alto (nee Peninsula) Creamery.

We talked about travel... assuming I'm not RIF'ed in the meanwhile, I'm due to go to the Arctic (July), Spain-Munich-Spain (August and most of September), and possibly southern Japan in October (if my paper is accepted...) for a week. Pat would like to go with me somewhere for a week or so, but her mom is getting too frail to come out and watch my kids, and [profile] scarlet1 will have her hands full at home with my dad's condition. So I may go around and try to hit up various friends/sweeties for a couple of days of childcare, later this year...

Yesterday I spent making detailed drawings of cabinet work, then cutting lumber to match, then applying a base coat of Zolatone to trim pieces before heading out to drive across the Bay with the van and James to help [personal profile] sarahh's move. Which was basically complete by the time we arrived (ulp!), due to a larger-than-expected turnout.

So I followed [personal profile] tenacious_snail over to [personal profile] deyo and [personal profile] mactavish's housewarming nearby, which I hadn't known I was invited to (missed her LJ post). And saw lots of people there, including the vivacious [personal profile] cjsmith (whom I hadn't seen in something like a year!). And met the new dog. Then followed [profile] bdot and [personal profile] vvvexation over to the joint birthday party at the Rabbit Warren, where I spent, oh, 10 minutes... and James and I sung to Dawn and Darla before heading home. :) Dressed in jeans and dirty moving-caliber T-shirts, while the partygoers were clean and freshly pressed... (grin). Still, I got to see Dawn's Cretan-priestess cake and Darla's knockout platform boots.

Now, to go paint...

you know that I'm up for childcare, and willing to adjust my work schedule so that I could do it for you.

I'm also willing to help create a childcare schedule-- I know that travel requires lots and lots of planning.

Side note: Do you want me to organize a group to go hear David sing at the Giants game in April? Or rather, would you let me????

I would be glad to both let you organize for 4/9, and help with travel childcare... you've already done so once when [profile] patgreene was hospitalized. (smile)

Done

You don't know me very well yet, but I am happy to get to know ya'll for the main purpose of childcare. I have class in the evenings two days a week and other than that my schedule is entirely flexible.

I am really into kids. (Thus the basis of me pursuing a career that will have me working with kids daily...)

:)

James is capable of evening babysitting... mostly I'll be looking for adult supervision as well as someone to cook and make sure they're doing their homework. And I appreciate the offer :).
