Thanks for the info. He has always been amazing on so many levels. I'm glad he is finally coming to understand the fact. But what makes us the most proud is the fact that he has a deeply kind and good heart. Eeek he will have a fit to read this. Better stop before I really get started.

My perception is that he understands and accepts his academic success and professional accomplishments, but is learning to understand that his kindness, thoughtfulness, and attentiveness are also worth appreciating.

I think you do know him pretty well. But I won't elaborate because I think he would hate having me talk about him. I am glad he has good friends who appreciate all of his qualities.
