Interesting hallway encounter...

[thinking of
cjsmith] I talked with someone that I first hired at NASA, a few years ago -- Cecilia Aragon, former US aerobatics champion and still a world-class competitor in the sport. I hadn't seen her in a couple of years... she has her own plane. And is about to take a week's vacation to compete in an air race next week, transcontinental to Virginia... I should get off of my backside, and update my certification.

Where does she keep her plane? What kind of plane? [major drool factory alert]

Date: 2002-06-12 02:00 pm (UTC)She teaches with/leases a 1996 Super Decathlon taildragger, but flies a custom-built Sabre (not an F-86!) in competitions and shows. She lives in the East Bay, and I think that her planes are at Tracy or Livermore. We once talked about her commuting to work by air, landing at Moffett, but then NASA closed the field to light aircraft...
She has a website at http://www.dcai.com/flight/index.html .
