Much better. Saw a friend's ordination to the diaconate... the bishop was nearly an hour late, he thought it was 1pm instead of 11am... seeing a life's rededication puts things in perspective. Leaves me much more grounded and open, and blossomed my spirits as well. And it was fun to see old friends, gathered for the event. (nods)

that sounds lovely!

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that Episcopalians have both "deacons who are going to stay deacons" and "deacons on their way to priesthood". Both cool things, but I am just wondering which this one was, as well as how it felt to be around someone taking a concrete step to filling their calling. Blossoming makes a great deal of sense.

(our future self knows how to solve all of the problems that we are going to face. I reminded myself of that this morning, after a refreshing stroll through the floral department at Whole Foods).

This was one of the latter -- he's a close friend of [profile] patgreene's, came from our parish, went to seminary in Austin, TX, and just finished there. His new home church job is in San Antonio, and in a year's time he'll be ordained there (instead of here). So it was also a farewell... another of Pat's friends is just beginning the process, heading to a different seminary (in NYC) in the fall.

Pat was happy to see him, but I think it was also hard on her in some ways.
