Final team telecon just finished before my DAME project deploys to Devon Island... Georgia Tech has already sent a (foreign grad student) participant ahead to NYC to get a visa for Canada. I will have six going through Ottawa, two (including myself) going through Edmonton, outbound the day after tomorrow.

GT's instruments and sensors are already on the island, Honeybee's drill crates were on last Saturday's plane out of Ottawa (but not confirmed in Resolute), and my packages were dropped at the FirstAir cargo depot in Ottawa yesterday and should be on today's flight to Resolute.

I'm planning to see folks Friday evening in Edmonton for dinner... have to stay off-Whyte there because of some Indy-car race this weekend that has all of the nicer hotels booked full. Also, I have a 3-hour layover Friday in Seattle if anyone around there is interested in lunch near SeaTac.

I'm excited that the pieces that need to come together for field season are happening, and I'm sad because I know I'm going to miss you (do you know how kissably cute that photo is?).

Drat! I'm at my temp job during the day, nowhere close to SeaTac. Oh well...

Enjoy your quick visit in E-town. I'll be thinking of you guys while I'm on the road to the mountains.

You have to stay off-Whyte? Doesn't sound like much of a tragedy. :)

Good luck up there. Let's hope that the weather, the polar bears, the Mars Soc. folks, the equipment, your fellow crew members, and your support staff back home all work together to make it a great experience.

We love you very much. I know I don't need to tell you to be extra careful. But I'm your mom and I can't help myself. So be careful and know that you are loved. I'm glad Vicky is going except now I have both of you to worry about. I guess Y'all will never get to old or responsible for me to stop worrying about my babies.
I love you.......... mom.
