Drilling is done for here and now...

Made it to 2.1m into the frozen breccia before ending the drilling at 1pm today.

The satellite camp above Trinity Lake is broken-down, packed, and everything moved back to base and is ready for shipping southward.

Today... lots of filming. A Discovery Channel documentary slated for fall 2006 came by the drillsite this morning... I was testing a wireless access point I'd just set up, posting to LJ when the helicopter buzzed us behind me. Later, they returned... I had to pretend to ask vaguely-intelligent questions of other team members, and look soberly at the drill. Synthetic reality...

Instead of say, posting to lj? Was there sound involved?

As opposed to the reality of asking vaguely-unintelligent questions??

Like... "how far down are we?" after I'd just asked it 5 minutes earlier...

A lot of TV is canned like that... when an acquaintance died messily, and they wanted to interview her friends, they had her friends pretend to be just coming out of their houses, and such.

Exactly! At one point, they said "look busy" and I started answering email...

Ah, Discovery Channel. They do good work, but I can't help thinking what their ad campaign really should be...

Bringing a new dimension to The Documentary: Marketing.

At least Honeybee got product placement out of it...
