Are you learning anything, as in is this worthwhile for you, or just boring?

It was actually pretty interesting...

... the Al-Queda manual on surveillance listed attributes to note, like habits, organizations, children, etc... and also if the subject had a girlfriend. ;)

Is this better or worse than the DHS Powerpoint presentation with Homer Simpson as spokesperson?

Far more detailed... with gory photos. And some useful information about avoiding trouble or attacks.

I think "Improved Explosive Devices" might be fun. Did you take any notes for [livejournal.com profile] deyo?

and the last one...is that keeping from being surveyed, or keeping people from detecting your surveillance?

Quick... the differences between primary, secondary, and tertiary explosives!

um, you don't have any tertiaries, so you don't have to worry about inducing explosions there?

So my decision not to volunteer to do the training was probably a good idea? (at least I won't have to try not to laugh at the teacher)..

Well, the instructor serves in the Naval Reserve in counterintelligence and as an interrogator (I wondered to myself if he knew [personal profile] pecunium). He has also served stints working with the US Coast Guard, including operations, like, um, boarding ships and interrogating their, um, crews... ;^).

He was amused that you were our sysadmin, but commented that you undoubtedly knew how to do C3I to remote locations.

Sounds like sitting in on "Improvised Explosive Devices" might have been fun. Heck, in my high school and early college days I probably could have taught it. :-)

The comparative test explosions video was fun...

So are they teaching you to be a terrorist or how to spot them?

Creepiest was the suicide-bomb instruction video, showing how to build up one's own explosive vest, complete with the Arabic equivalent of Blue Oyster Cult burbling in the background...

I think you'd be much better off looking for WMDs with [livejournal.com profile] serenejournal, personally. And she even had today off!

"Improvised Explosive Devices", eh? Sounds like a blast!

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

It's been one of those days.... I've already used 4-letter words in front of most of the managers in my department. Just have to get my work frustrations out somehow... Am now resorting to bad puns.

I kept mentally substituting a "U" for the "E"... ;)
