Everyone is here, Casiano still cooks well, the equipment is in place, and it is 107F during daytimes... no net access at the cottage yet, I'm borrowing Casiano's net.

Hi Nancy *wave*

The dog is Cayenne, I'm Les. She is most wonderful. I *do* have a thing for redheads, or at least it appears that way.

"jamon" is Spanish for ham. Much ham is served in Spain, at least the region where the field work is done. I have seen photos from the Museo de Jamon (ham museum) and heard of the jamonastery. I do think that would be a monastery that makes ham, rather than a monastery made of ham, but ham is pretty ubiquitous, so it could be either, if you ask me.

hi Les Nice to meet you :)

what a nice name for a dog, Cayenne. Redheads, hmm I am guessing Brian has red hair too? :)

My guy is Mikie a whopping 365 pound human who hardly has any hair left, but when he did, it was very dark brown, now what is left of it is quite gray. And he is quite tall too over 6 feet 4 inches and solid muscle the only fat is his big belly and he does not drink beer..hehe.

My dog is Daphne a huge 102 pound (vet said she needs to lose 10 pounds) over friendly (she likes to sit on your lap also or lean against you to be petted and she will almost knock you over in the process) black lab dog (gray beard we call her sometimes) who was 7 years old last month. Hence my lj name iluvdaphne.

haha I love it, a monastery made of ham or one that makes ham. I like weird things like that.

had to look up ubiquitous, I love learning new words. ;)

wow! Daphne *is* a big girl. She's about three times the size of Cayenne (35-40 lbs.). And yes, Brian does have red hair.

tagging on to T_S's comment below, but putting it here so you'll see it... (for reference, I was in Spain with Brian last year when these things were sighted)

Yes, it was the Jamonasterio and it is indeed a monastery where they specialize in a particular kind of Jamon. They hold a TWO WEEK festival of Jamon every year. The mind boggles. People apparently make Jamon-tasting journeys, much as people do wine-tasting here in CA. And there's a Palacio de Jamon in Madrid as well... We didn't actually get inside, so I can't guarantee it wasn't made of ham, though....

a two week festival?

Ham... and olives. As you drive through the Southern Spanish countryside, you see rows and rows and rows and ROWS of olive trees, stretching off as far as the eye can see in all directions. It's really quite impressive.
