Anniversary
Jul. 3rd, 2002 09:26 amAfter averting more project threats (this time from NASA Headquarters, questioning whether we'd gotten the appropriate approvals and export control inspections before shipping our equipment), I took Pat out for our 19th wedding anniversary last night. (If I counted from when we started dating, it would be nearly 22 years)
After trying one restaurant that was closed (owners on holiday), we found a small cafe in Palo Alto that had the right atmosphere (and wine list :-). Duck breast in cassis and peppercorns, baby veggies, crisply-thin yams.... yum. With a good '99 Chateauneuf-du-Pape, and apple tart and un-American coffee afterwards. Lots of reminiscing about past experiences, many of them from past travel together. Lots of starry-eyed gazing and giggling...
We gave each other gifts this year -- for
patgreene, an hour massage and hour hot tub at Watercourse Way (pampering for when I'm away for 3 weeks), and she gave me some DVDs that she found in NYC last month (Black Adder I, Hitchhiker's Guide, and the last season of Good Neighbors). The latter is a favorite of mine... Felicity Kendal... aaah. Although arguably Paul Eddington and Penelope Keith went on to have bigger careers.

That was called The Good Life in the UK. Wonder why they changed the name!
I think FK has done a lot in theatre in the UK rather than lots more TV, which the rest of the cast got into. Just as good a career, but less visible.

Date: 2002-07-03 09:12 pm (UTC)I'm running into more and more couples celebrating their anniversaries in July. That's when Allen and I celebrate ours -- the 30th, to be exact.
