A bit concerned... identity theft?

Someone just asked me by email if I knew a "Leigh Ann Hildebrand"... no context given. The name sounds vaguely like someone I might have worked in the same dept. with at NASA ten years ago, or maybe someone from high school... but no one comes to mind. The same person that asked me that question also took me off of their LJ list at roughly the same time. And their .sig included a reference to http://www.haltabuse.org, which deals with cyber-stalkers.

I don't know what is going on here... I'm a bit concerned. I haven't been in contact with Ms. Hildebrand, wherever/whoever she is... I wonder if I've fallen prey to identity theft, and someone is using my ID to send out bogus emails. If anyone gets an out-of-character email ostensibly from me, let me know ASAP! Thanks...

That was me. I'm the webmaster for haltabuse.org - but if I'd been doing anything official for them I would have used my email address there.

And I think I explained later why I was asking, as I've explained in my LJ about the friends list changes. Sorry to freak you out.

Not a problem.... I was relieved that no one was sending out bogus harassing email under my handle. Sorry about the privacy issue you mentioned...
