skating to music

This morning, early, I had another figure skating lesson... this time, with my new skates and blades out of their probationary period. So... back to jumps. After a couple of awkward landings (due to the different blade location, caught the wrong edge), they quickly improved and are now stronger and smoother than with the old skates. (grin)

And I went through my program with my coach... the last time, with the music. Good progress. I think I'll take my skates with me next week to Houston, so I can keep up my practice.

Otherwise... I'm working on a proposal, abstracts and a poster for next week, at work. And judged a science fair yesterday morning, with [personal profile] sarahh. Followed by a too-short lunch with [personal profile] cyan_blue (thanks to [profile] emmett_the_sane for hosting :). And a cuddly evening with [profile] patgreene. Today should see the abstracts and poster done, plus lunch with [personal profile] dawnd, who is being given a lift down here by [personal profile] tenacious_snail (who in turn is signing her new lease here, today).

Hopefully going to W&S tonight... then Little League Opening Day tomorrow, and a party in San Jose tomorrow night.

Will you be performing your skating program at a show of some sort?

It's required that in order to pass freestyle levels, one has to do a program set to music, incorporating the elements learned at that level. My performance/test will be Monday April 10, probably in the morning...

Maybe a bunch of us can come watch! :-) Let us know where and when, if you'd like that. (And it's fine of course if you'd rather we *not* come... I know that sometimes it's easier to pass a test without an audience. But if you want us there, it would be neat to see what you've been studying and practicing.)

What different levels exist in freestyle skating, and which of those levels are you passing between this time?
