On top of everything else... [profile] patgreene's elderly mom in Florida fell down and broke her wrist.

And... it's baaack. The RUS, that is... in the garage, no sign of it in the house thankfully. But given its squirrel/guinea pig-sized scat, it is *large*, and has visited my bedroom in the garage recently, so my comforter and sheets will all need laundering now (I was sleeping in Pat's bedroom, this past week).

rat of unusual size?

a dog might could help. but given the havoc that mine would create, it might not be a net gain.

I'm guessing rodent of unusual size, but that should be ROUS to be a proper Princess Bride reference....

Hey, he's only seen it *once* so I think he gets Big Points for getting in a reference of any kind. (he and I are both quite pop-culture impaired).

If I was closer we'd work on that pop-culture issue :-D

Actually, I've been working hard lately on pop cultural awareness... I can now reliably distinguish Coke, diet Coke, Pepsi and Dr. Pepper, among others. :)

But can you recognize a Monty Python reference??

;-)

Actually, he's pretty good on most of the well known Python references. And he's definitely on top of Dr. Who references.

Is this where I admit I'm a bad geek and I've never seen a Dr. Who episode?

Heh. Cayenne, jumping and pouncing in my garage... havoc would almost be an understatement, given how many precariously-balanced items there are out there.

Oh, gosh. I'm so sorry to hear about Pat's mom. (hugs) to all of you.

[livejournal.com profile] simplykimberly has a large selection of kittens to choose from to deal with your ROUS...

Thanks... right now, the rodent would figuratively laugh at kittenses. But I'd have a cat already if it weren't for [profile] patgreene's allergies.

I'd thought about making some vague amusing comment about squirrel-like entities having recently visited my bedroom, but decided I just didn't have the energy today... ;)

[livejournal.com profile] enchantedwahine has a couple of abandoned cats that she's looking to place. They were left in her apartment complex after some neighbors moved away. They are adult cats, and used to being outdoor-only. The folks who have been feeding them are thinking that they need to go to a shelter. I'm thinking if they go to a shelter now, when there are so many kittens, that they are likely doomed to an early grave. If you were able to relocate them, keep them in the garage for a while to get them oriented, and then keep them as outdoor-only pets, it might be helpful in your quest for an ROUS-free existence.

Pat still declines, on the grounds that the garage is too full of clutter and songbird nests to host cats there. So I'll go set traps, again.

Pat might be interested in visiting here sometime, to see if a Siberian cat would manage not to trigger her allergies:

I think they're great... Although the kids leave the doors open enough that any house cat would be at least partially an outdoor cat.
