I was originally going to be out of town over the weekend of 6/16. With [profile] patgreene going to Atlanta, I'm now at home that weekend with no plans other than laundry. Any information about fun or useful events or activities that weekend would be welcomed, including things to do with the kids during the day... I'd rather not sit at home alone and fret about things I can't change, while Pat's gone.

Check out [profile] thechoirloft. We're having Midsummer Celebration that day.

That might be good with the kids, depending... how much religious/pagan content do you expect?

Ritual will be brief. As I always do at these events I will tell a story from one "myth"/"religion". Crafts will be paganish in intent but do not have to be viewed that way. Most of the time will be visiting and eating.

might be good FOR the kids, if someone can take them.

Well... I generally don't take the kids to pagan ceremonies or observances, or go myself (other than the occasional wedding).

Just curious as to why? (Though I have an idea.) I let the kids experience all different faiths so I they have an understanding and acceptance of them.

I've never declined a request on their part to attend something with their friends, but I generally see the observances of different faiths as something to be left to the participants or followers of whichever path... likewise, I rarely extend an invitation to friends to accompany us to our church, out of concern that we'd be seen as proselytizing.

Oh yes, we've had this discussion. You should read my sermon to see the difference between proselytizing and "evangelism"/"welcoming"/"sharing". *shrugs*

I don't see an invitation or request to share as proselytizing. A repeated offer with nastiness about my lack of faight....that's proselytizing and ugly.

Moot point, anyway, as [personal profile] tenacious_snail has now (directly, as I didn't get it above) reminded me that I have a conflict at 2pm that day.

The kids might appreciate that on Friday afternoon?

If you think they'd prefer that to the movie option, I would be happy to take 'em out 'caching instead.

I don't think I have much going on that weekend if you wanted to get together. I could bring VR along...I don't think your youngest is *that* far removed in age.

Not sure...depends on where you're going to be in relation to where we'll be. We have [livejournal.com profile] dancing_star's blessing for ladybug on Sat. and I'm not sure what else (I know I'm forgetting something).
If we don't see you this weekend, I'm sure we'll catch up soon. *hugs*
