Today, we had breakfast at the Madonna Inn, drove past Harmony to San Simeon and toured the Hearst mansion, had a picnic lunch in Cayucos and drove down to near San Diego.

There's James, sprawled out in a wicker chair in front of Casa Grande, as though he were a Hearst guest of old...

Kissing statuary

The Hearst mansion is full of mixtures of old relics and artwork together with recent art done in complementary styles. Witness the recent statue next to the much older urn.

I think that the kissing couple might make a good user icon... (grins).

Picnic lunch at Cayucos

We finally found picnic tables -- at Cayucos, at their municipal pier where there was a BBQ area. It was foggy and cool near the beach... but not terribly warm even inland.
