Rescued... now off again

Whew. Stranded in the dark with kids and Pat on the shoulder of I-5 near Coalinga... for hours... that wasn't fun. The tow cost me $155 and truck showed up around 2am... he dropped us off at the next exit, with whatever we could unload while the car was still lifted. Fortunately there was a motel with a room available... we crashed for a couple of hours there.

Meanwhile... my sweetie rocks. I sent an SOS to [personal profile] tenacious_snail... and she went to the airport, rented a minivan that could hold us all and our stuff at 1am, and drove the 2-1/2 hours alone down to rescue us, arriving around 4:45am. We loaded and she dropped us at home by 7:30am... watching a beautiful sunrise.

I showered, changed, re-packed and then Les picked me up at 8:30am to go to SFO airport for my flight to Atlanta...

I hope your trip to Atlanta goes smoother.

Lots of hugs. I leave around 5 today for my trip south. Hugs T

(hugs) on your own loss and a safe journey, dear.

Wow...

I probably drove right by you late last night. If we only had some sort of GPS friend tracker and chat system, I could have been your rescue.

Interestingly - my transmission is having some trouble too.

Hmm...

*hugs*

The minivan I rented had a vastly-inferior GPS system. I was glad to have it, though, as having lived in the East Bay for so long, the only route to I-5 that I knew of was taking 580. I think I'd *maybe* been over the Pacheco Pass once before, so directional assistance was much appreciated.

What are you driving? Hmm...

We were stranded seven miles south of the Harris Ranch exit from I-5, you might have vaguely seen our hazard flashers there between midnight and 2:30am. Sigh...

A Jeep Liberty.

I think I must have been a ways ahead of you. I probably passed Harris Ranch around 9pm.

Glad everyone is safe, and yep - Les is one awesome hero!

oh yes, your sweetie DEFINITELY rocks! Yay Les! And I'm glad it all worked out, in the end, even with all the hassle(s) (hugs)

[livejournal.com profile] tenacious_snail most definitely rocks. So glad you all made it back safely... What a day!

If I am going to keep rocking like this, do you think I need to find a geologist to take a look at me?

heh... I know of at least one who would greatly enjoy it, albeit without hammer or dropper bottle. A hand lens might be fun, though...

thank you, dear.

Arrangements have been made with Pat for Kevin's overnight and geocaching. I've returned the rental car with utter ease, and am working on catching up on sleep.

I feel happy, loved, and glad to be part of such a wonderful network of friends/lovers/family.

Yay! I hope you can catch up on sleep soon!

I was dozy today, at one point dropping off in front of relatives in my parents' living room...
