The weather has settled in... we can expect days of overcast, drizzle and sleet, with lots of wind. It isn't going to get better, so I felt today that we should press onward with the human-in-spacesuit tests... no breaks. No baths, no sleeping in.

New acronym: RMI, for AR-management-issue. Widely used around camp. [personal profile] hopeforyou can doubtlessly think of several AR-wrangling issues herself...

But it wasn't bad, or else my standards have lowered. After lunch, we took the Hamilton-Sundstrand prototype Mars suit out to Site 11 and ran a sim there with a human geologist (from the Univ. of Calgary, shown at work in this photo (284 kB)

The test was successfully concluded.... the human noticed and investigated the hydrothermal vents and fossiliferous ejecta block (in photo) , while yesterday the rover team was too intent on getting elsewhere to notice local significant features...

Otherwise, I'm way lonely, cold, and wish I could share warmth with someone. And I'm a bit sad because a friend appears to be distancing zirself. But it is time to drive up the hill and refill the generator...

Is AR an issue now? Last I heard, he was ecstatic with how things were going with the sims. What changed between then and now?

I'm sorry to hear you are lonely and cold. If you were here, I would gladly invite you to Zucca to join us for drinks and molten chocolate cake. Warm you right up. [livejournal.com profile] sinboy and I fully intend to take you there when you get back. It's his belief that you should hire him to be base camp cook to begin with, though. He's determined he can feed you better quality meals and beverages for less, and wants to go next year.

Um...when exactly are you coming home? Are you stopping off anywhere to stay on the way back?

We miss you here, Brian. And I could use a good walk around the marsh soon.
