car follies...

My Mustang convertible has been in the shop for most of the time since I've been back from the Arctic... nearly a week, this time. Waiting for a replacement EGR valve, which finally came in today... for the wrong engine. Gah. I might get the car back today, but it looks increasingly unlikely. I'm supposed to go to a private party tonight in the East Bay... time to start trying to line up rides. And I hate asking for help.

OTOH, we picked up James from band camp, which was fine -- he has learned to march, and carries one of their bass drums, and wasn't one of the kids stung by a swarm of yellowjackets. I'm dubious about their music this year... granted, it isn't all written yet. Looked for [profile] bdot and M., but didn't see them.

Glad I could help with transportation, love... and truly, it wasn't any trouble at all, and I was glad for the extra time with you.

Glad that you made it home OK... thanks for everything!

mva is still in tennessee...she comes back tonight. i had phoned ms. kramer to tell her that mva wouldn't be there, but got no response. was band camp a sleep-away thing or just at the school?

didn't james march last year?

She was away this past week at the camp -- it is a Mon-Sat sleep-away thing where they work on learning the music for the fall season, and practice basic marching. And sort of a social bonding event, away from parents...

Last year, James was in "the pit" as a percussionist, which is the array of bells and cymbals and xylophones that are set up and played on the sidelines, so he didn't march at all. This year, he's in the "drum line", which are mobile. Actually, at 6' tall he's been assigned the biggest, 60-lb bass drum, so every slight twitch or mis-step is visible from across the field...

*hugs*

Drat on the car.

If you'd like mine sometime this week, there are some days that it is possible.

It should be *finally* done by Monday afternoon...

Heh, your experience is matching mine with Ford-branded cars. I looked briefly at the Focus hatchback when car shopping since they're kinda cute, but after the unpleasantness that was involved with the two Escorts we owned, I decided I wasn't likely to buy a car with a Ford badge slapped on it without a really compelling reason.
