While doing a ground-truth survey this afternoon, saw a pair of parasitic Jaegers. Then, after the jaegers had moved on, came a group of five snow buntings ;-). Location approx. 75 deg 24.16 N, 89 deg 48.52 W.

These are the first birds that I've seen this season, other than the two camp-follower gulls....

Me, I'm lost when I read the phrase "ground truth". I haven't had the mind-altering experience of the ground lying to me. Perhaps I haven't been in California long enough :-)
