slipping through a long weekend

Inertia. Lack of direction or focus... I feel like I should be doing *something*, but (as usual) have no weekend plans, other than vaguely doing something Sunday night with [profile] patgreene. Time to ship a box to DC, perhaps... or start a household project, or some yardwork. The kids are out at the park, except for James (who is still asleep at 10:30am). And we're cooking a turkey today... 26 lbs, purely so we'll have cheap protein and leftovers for the next couple of weeks. I'm trying to be reassuring to [profile] patgreene about the relative cooking progress of the micro-dino.

We have leftover stuffing and sweet potatoes from Thursday, when we went over to the Choirloft for a large (33 people, about half were kids) community gathering. It was a bit claustrophobia-inducing at first, but the food was diverse and good and David's very first pie (apple-pear) went well. Pat had to bail out after dinner with a migraine, but fortunately we'd split cars with [personal profile] tenacious_snail.

And... I was able to convince Kevin at one point that he'd be depriving the other kids if he held back and didn't ask them if he could play with them, rather than imposing on them (he was a bit blue). I was happy that this worked for him (he had bounced back ten minutes later), happy with my parenting skills, and happy that I'd myself finally internalized this enough that I could teach it to my child. :)

Go you... and go him :-)

Don't forget that we're having Leftovers & Games Day if you're looking for something to do today.

Thanks! Although I'm not much for board games, myself. And the whole topic has become... charged between myself and someone else. (wry grin)

Sorry to hear that and that it is a problem for you. Have a good day anyway then.
