It's time for me to set up my payroll-deduction (Combined Federal Campaign) charitable contributions for 2007... while [livejournal.com profile] patgreene and I ultimately decide, I'd like to solicit inputs and suggestions.

Some ideas are listed, including incumbents from last year.

Anyway, with a planned $1K to invest, I'm now open to recommendations, as well as suggestions of other charities. Deadline for my 2007 filing is this Thursday.

If I were able to do such things - I'd want to contribute to doing away with ALL cancer, and hunger

Brian, could you put up some links to these so that those of us who aren't familiar with all of them can do some homework?

I'm curious about this suggestion. I support the "homeless youth have significant needs" but I'm curious about the suggestion of a Catholic charity (with unpleasant scandals in its history).

Other charities that one might want to consider-- First Place which serves teens leaving foster care, LYRIC for the kids that Covenant House can't serve well, or Huckleberry House

I've got a soft spot for charities that take in runaway teens.
