Even of the inadvertent sort... my Episcopal church had a table with a bunch of mistletoe set out as leftovers from decoration. So I took a few twigs... one for home, of course, but also one each to hand to [personal profile] cyan_blue for two friends' houses where there will be holiday events over the next week. So my Christian church is effectively supplying mistletoe to two pagan Yule observances. ;-) I'm amused.

And of course mistletoe is a pagan symbol itself, so decorating a church with it is a very ecumenical thing to do.

I'd wondered if the altar guild (who do the weekly flowers or greenery in the sanctuary) were aware of the symbolism, other than that it was vaguely seasonal...

But the whole season is an appropriated pagan festival anyway...

I'm used to Grace Cathedral, so it doesn't seem odd. :)

It is good to see that in this season of peace the Christian establishment is giving back something to the pagan rituals they co-opted in the past. :)
