Slight annoyances

Between ConJose and Burning Man, everyone locally seems to be disappearing this weekend. Deadsville... nothing planned. Yet. Hopefully we'll do something with [livejournal.com profile] 7patches, who has expressed a willingness to do side trips outside the con site.

Work has been mostly catch-up on project details, with a team meeting this morning. And training tomorrow. But [personal profile] hopeforyou and I have had some good philosophical discussions in addition to the mundane work-related topics...

And [livejournal.com profile] patgreene accidentally broke her right little toe yesterday, kicking the fireplace. It is the size of her big toe, and grape-colored... so I covered for David and Kevin's dental appointments today.

And finally, my meeting 9/24-26 will be in Boston... although I might swing by DC on the way. At least I can offer [livejournal.com profile] treacle_well the dinner I missed last year after being stranded after 9/11.

Yay! I look forward to seeing you.

I feel for [livejournal.com profile] patgreene! I did the same a few years ago. Drove [livejournal.com profile] sambear nuts because I wouldn't go to a doctor - I knew she'd just tape it to the next toe.

Ow!

Condolences to [livejournal.com profile] patgreene. I had a friend who broke her little toe, walking to the fireworks at the Berkeley Marina one year. She just swung her foot into somone else's, and it broke. And there's not a darn thing you can really do about them. Although it occurs to me that a trick my doc told me about my probably-sprained finger might work here, too. Once the swelling is down, "buddy-tape" the toe to the adjoining one. Just tape the two of them together along the length. It gives the injured one more stability, without the bulk of a cast or splint.

I know what you mean about the quiet weekend. We're actually choosing not to go to the con at all in part BECAUSE of the quiet--we can actually get something done around the house!

Well, I'm not going anywhere.

(grin) And I'm looking forward to spending lots of cuddle-time....
