On to Saturday...
Sep. 13th, 2002 01:25 pmThe good news:
patgreene continues to heal, to look more like herself, to gain energy. The bad news: since she's still not capable of handling solid foods, and her incisions aren't set, she'll be in the hospital until Saturday. Original sent-home dates were Thursday (or Wednesday if things had gone smoothly). But she's off the IV and other kinds of tubing. And is walking a little bit, and sitting up for a few minutes at a time. These are good things.
Meanwhile, I have a guy from NASA Headquarters who is in town this week and has been trying to reach me... even asked J for Pat's hospital room, in order to track me down. And I've punted all of my IVHM telecons this week, as well as a document review I'd promised 3 weeks ago. Sigh.
Last night I went to orientation at James's school... and discovered that he has been not bringing home items that require parental signatures, and being downgraded as a result. And not telling us about the true state of his homework. And didn't show us a math quiz that he fluffed-off and subsequently got a poor grade. Intervention is required, but I only have so much energy right now... so we agreed on what he and I would do, through next week.
Afterward, since the kids were at KidsPark until 10pm, I had a late, quick dinner with
p3aches and a good talk about some issues that had been bothering me. (grateful look)
I had been plaintively looking forward to a couple of social events set for Saturday night, hoping to escape the home/medical pressures for a few hours once the kids were in bed. But since Pat will only be arriving home Saturday afternoon, I will probably need to stay home and tend to her adjustment needs. Sigh. Conversely I'll be home tonight. I'd better anti-RSVP... but I'll miss the simple adult companionship. Oh, well.
