Looking through Flickr, i wonder what radiation risk is being monitored. (It's obviously not like working at a lab because an individual's exposure could vary widely from the point where such a device was installed. Any point-like geologic sources seem like they would cause different individual exposures due to different durations at different ranges.

I had a moment of geek love there, good thing you are not a book nerd!

This is pretty cool stuff. I imagine your kids have a blast when you help them with science projects!

(grin) they like to drag me to class and show me off to their classmates... and we do well on science projects.

I'm not really a geek, I just do geeky things in real-life?

Nice retrospective!

What was the magnetic anomaly in 2003? Did you ever get another opportunity to investigate it, or to see the beautiful unnamed river again?

Our 2001 aerial magnetic survey showed a large magnetic high, about 20km west of our base camp. I later got gravity stations there, but not until a helicopter ride in 2005. The river was named... Telemedicine River. ;-)
